Ovarian Cancer Commitment

The Ovarian Cancer Commitment (OCC) is a collaborative initiative developed by the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology, its patient advocacy network ENGAGe, and AstraZeneca to improve outcomes and quality of care for people affected by ovarian cancer across Europe. The initiative brings together clinicians, patient advocates, and partners to promote earlier diagnosis, equitable access to innovation and biomarker testing, and stronger patient support systems. Within OCC, several initiatives have been developed to translate these goals into practice. One key outcome is Olivia, a digital information platform guiding patients through the ovarian cancer pathway, while another is the Don’t Overlook initiative, which focuses on strengthening advocacy capacity. This programme included the development of an advocacy toolkit to help ENGAGe member organisations become more effective advocates, alongside structured sharing of best practices and successful advocacy activities across countries, reinforcing collaboration within the network. 

The Olivia website is a patient-centred online platform created under the Ovarian Cancer Commitment to provide reliable, accessible information about ovarian cancer from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up care. Designed as a comprehensive digital hub, it offers educational resources, practical guidance, and support information for patients, families, and healthcare professionals. Reflecting ENGAGe’s philosophy that informed patients are empowered patients, the platform combines clear medical information with modern digital tools to support decision-making and ensure that gynaecological cancers remain visible and prioritised within healthcare systems and public awareness efforts.
