ENGAGe Clinical Trials Project

ENGAGe is proud to support stronger patient involvement in the design of clinical trials. Through this project, trained ENGAGe patient experts work together to help ensure that clinical studies are developed with the patient perspective in mind from the very beginning.

This is an important step towards making clinical trials more patient-centred, accessible, and meaningful. By bringing patient experts into discussions about trial design and development, the project helps highlight what matters most to patients, including quality of life, communication, practical barriers, and the real-life impact of participating in research.

Clinical Trials Stresa

What does the project focus on?

The Clinical Trials group members focuse on where and how patient experts can add value in the development of clinical studies and trials. The group explores practical ways to involve patients meaningfully in trial design, review, and communication.

Another important part of the project is the development of practical documents and checklists. These tools help ENGAGe Clinical Trials members evaluate trial designs in a consistent way and support standardised procedures across different projects.

Cooperation with ENGOT

A key part of this project is the cooperation with ENGOT. ENGAGe is working to strengthen connections between ENGOT trial groups and trained ENGAGe Clinical Trials members at local level.

This collaboration creates valuable opportunities for patient experts to contribute to the development of clinical studies and to support a more consistent approach to patient involvement.

A growing network of trained patient experts

The project brings together around 30 trained ENGAGe Clinical Trials members from 13 countries. Their shared experience, knowledge, and patient perspective are an important resource for improving the way clinical trials are designed and communicated.
